A showcase,
not a contest.

San Rafael en Corto is an exhibition forum, not a contest with jury prizes. The selection aims to programme a showcase coherent with the theme "Cinema and No to War", not to rank films by quality.

Submission is free and is done through the Movibeta or Festhome platforms. The only award is the Audience Award "Distribución Domingo Socorro", granting one year of free distribution across the Canarian network to the film most voted by the audience.

Read the 20 rules carefully before sending your short film. Failure to meet the technical requirements or the submission deadline leads to automatic disqualification.

Deadline

15 July 2026.

Submissions close at 23:59:59. No entries are accepted after that date, whatever the circumstances.
Rule 5 · Submission deadline

Movibeta and Festhome close their platforms punctually at that time in Canary Islands time (WET). We recommend not leaving the upload to the last 24 hours: upload peaks saturate both platforms and a failed upload counts as not delivered.

Official rules

Twenty points
to take part.

  1. Two competitive sections

The 22nd edition of San Rafael en Corto has two sections: Canarian Competition, open to works made in the Canary Islands or by Canarian authors abroad, and International Competition, open to short films from all over the world.

  2. Edition theme: "Cinema and No to War"

The cross-cutting theme of the 22nd edition is cinema and no to war. It is not a requirement to take part, but it is the editorial line guiding the parallel programme, the round tables and the associated educational activities.

  3. Venue: Víctor Jara Municipal Theatre

All competitive screenings take place at the Víctor Jara Municipal Theatre in Vecindario (Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Gran Canaria), the festival's historic venue since its earliest editions.

  4. Audience Award "Distribución Domingo Socorro"

The showcase's only award. The film most voted by the audience receives one year of free distribution across the Canarian network by Distribución Domingo Socorro. There are no jury prizes.

  5. Submission deadline

Submissions close at 23:59:59 on 15 July 2026. No entries are accepted after that date, whatever the circumstances.

  6. Running time

Short films must run between 30 seconds and 6 minutes, credits included. Films exceeding this length are automatically disqualified.

  7. Accepted technical formats

Only two file formats are accepted: MP4 with H.264 codec or MOV with ProRes 422 codec. Minimum resolution: Full HD (1920×1080). Files over 10 GB or works with watermarks are not accepted.

  8. Submission platforms

Films must be submitted exclusively through www.movibeta.com or www.festhome.com. Submissions via WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox, or private Vimeo or YouTube links are not accepted.

  9. Subtitles

Short films whose original language is not Spanish must include burned-in Spanish subtitles in the file (not a sidecar SRT). Films without subtitles will be rejected at the pre-selection stage.

  10. Submission form

Each short film must complete a form with the director's details, credits, synopsis, trailer link (if any) and express acceptance of these rules. One form per film.

  11. Premieres or previously screened

Films previously screened at other festivals are accepted. A premiere is not required. The organisation will assess the selection on programming criteria, not exclusivity.

  12. Screening authorisation

Submission implies authorising Gran Angular to screen the film publicly within the showcase and at all its associated venues (EspAl, Teatro Guiniguada, TEA Tenerife and similar circuits), with no financial compensation.

  13. Television broadcast

Optionally, the form includes a box to authorise television broadcast (RTVC, local Canarian TV) if selected. This authorisation can be revoked in writing.

  14. Copyright

The person submitting guarantees they hold all rights to the work (music, images, script) and releases Gran Angular from any third-party claim arising from its screening.

  15. Personal data

The data collected is used solely to manage the showcase. Gran Angular does not share data with third parties outside the organisation. You can exercise your data rights by writing to contacto@granangularcanarias.com.

  16. Selection committee

Pre-selection is carried out by a committee made up of the festival's artistic direction and external collaborators specialised in short film. Their decision is final.

  17. Selection notification

Selected films are notified by email to the contact address given in the form. Non-selected films also receive an explicit notification.

  18. Attending the showcase

Directors of selected films are encouraged to attend the screening to present their work and take part in the round table afterwards. Gran Angular does not cover travel or accommodation.

  19. Promotion

By accepting these rules, the person submitting authorises Gran Angular to promote the film's title, credits, synopsis and promotional photographs across the festival's communication channels.

  20. Acceptance of the rules

Taking part in SREC implies full acceptance of these 20 rules. Any unforeseen dispute will be resolved by the organising committee. For queries, write to contacto@granangularcanarias.com.
